M ay 2 00 6 Multiphase region of helimagnetic superlattices at low temperature in an extended six - state clock model

چکیده
The variety of magnetic phases observed in rare-earth heterostructures at low temperatures [1], such as Ho/Y, may be elucidated by an ANNNI-like model Hamiltonian. In previous work modelling bulk Ho [2], such a Hamiltonian with a one-dimensional parameter space produced a single multiphase point. In contrast, the parameter space of the heterostructure model is three-dimensional, and instead of an isolated multiphase point, we find two-dimensional multiphase regions. In an example of Villain's " order from disorder " [3, 4], an infinitesimal temperature breaks the ground-state degeneracy. In first order of a low-temperature expansion, we find that the degeneracy is broken everywhere in a multiphase region except on a line. A segment of the line appears to remain multiphase to all orders in a low-temperature expansion when the number L of magnetic layers between non-magnetic spacers is 4 but not for other values of L. For L = 4, the hierarchy of phases more closely resembles that in the ANNNI model than in the bulk six-state clock model on which the present model is based.

Multiphase region of helimagnetic superlattices at low temperature in an extended six-state clock model
The variety of magnetic phases observed in rare-earth heterostructures at low temperatures (Jehan et al 1993 Phys. Rev. We report a frequency measurement of the 1S0− 3P0 transition of Sr atoms in an optical lattice clock. The frequency is determined to be 429 228 004 229 879 (5)Hz with a fractional uncertainty that is comparable to state-of-the-art optical clocks with neutral atoms in free fall. Two previous measurements of this transition were found to disagree by about 2× 10, i.e. almost four times the combine...

The temperature-dependent infrared properties of θ-(BEDT-TTF)2RbZn(SCN)4 were investigated. In the temperatures above the metal-insulator (M-I) transition, the optical conductivity remains finite in the low energy region, but shows no conventional Drude feature typical of metals. Below the M-I transition temperature, the low-energy spectral weight is significantly reduced. An opening of optical...

In this paper we prove that in the high temperature region of the SherringtonKirkpatrick model for a typical realization of the disorder the weighted average of spins ∑ i≤N tiσi will be approximately Gaussian provided that maxi≤N |ti|/ ∑ i≤N t 2 i is small.

This paper shows a theoretical study of the thermal properties of armchair grapehen nanoribbons in the presence of extended vacancies. Each graphene nanoribbons formed by superlattices with a periodic geometric structure, different size and symmetry of vacancies. The phonon dispersion, specific heat and thermal conductivity properties are described by a force-constant model and also by Landauer...
